Kang Hyung-mo, chairman of the Korea Golf Association, will lead Korean golf for the next four years.
"Chairman Kang Hyung-mo has been elected as the 21st chairman of the Korea Golf Association. This will serve as the chairman of the Korea Golf Association until January 2029," the Korea Golf Association said on Sunday.
Kang Hyung-mo, who is also the chairman of Yuseong Country Club in Daejeon, was elected as the 20th president of the Korea Golf Association through a by-election in June 2023. He ran for the 21st presidential election in December last year and confirmed his consecutive terms through an independent election. The Korea Golf Association's election management committee decided on Kang as the chairman at the fourth meeting on June 30 after reviewing the reason for his disqualification in accordance with the relevant regulations, and announced the final election without a separate vote on January 6, the previous election date.
Kang has been appointed as a director of the Korea Golf Association since 2004, and served as chairman of the 메이저놀이터 Korea Golf Association and vice chairman of the player reinforcement committee in turn. He also served as a member of the International Golf Federation (IGF), the highest voting body for golf, and a director of the Asia-Pacific Golf Federation (APGC), helping Korean golfers strengthen international relations and advance overseas.
Chairman Kang said, "I feel a great sense of responsibility to take the helm again. I will create the Korea Golf Association with international competitiveness to take a new leap forward in Korean golf." Kang's official term begins on May 23 when the general meeting of representatives is held.
